Terms of Service

1. About these terms

These terms apply to your use of pridesecurity.ca and to work carried out by Pride Security Solutions Inc. (“Pride Security”, “we”, “us”) for you. Where you sign a written quote, work order, installation agreement or monitoring agreement with us, that signed document governs and these terms fill any gaps. If the two conflict, the signed document wins.

2. Quotes and site assessments

Site assessments are free and carry no obligation. A quote is based on what the technician could see and reach on the day of the assessment.

• Quotes are valid for 30 days from the date issued unless the quote says otherwise.
• Prices assume normal access and reasonable cable routes. If conditions found once work begins differ materially — concealed structure, asbestos or other hazardous material, inadequate power, blocked conduit, unexpected trenching, or a change you request — we will stop, explain the difference in writing, and proceed only once you approve the revised price.
• Equipment models may be substituted for an equal or better model where a manufacturer discontinues a product or supply is unavailable. We will tell you before we do.
• Prices are in Canadian dollars and exclusive of HST unless stated.

3. Payment

• A deposit is payable when you accept the quote. The deposit secures your installation date and covers equipment ordered for your job.
• The balance is due on completion, once the system has been commissioned and demonstrated to you.
• Larger commercial projects may be invoiced in progress stages, as set out in the quote.
• Invoices are due on receipt unless stated otherwise. Overdue amounts may bear interest at the rate shown on the invoice, calculated from the due date.
• Until payment in full is received, title to the equipment supplied remains with us. Risk passes to you on installation.

4. Cancellation and your cooling-off rights

Agreements signed at your home

If you sign an agreement with us somewhere other than our place of business — at your home, for example — Ontario consumer protection law gives you a statutory cooling-off period during which you may cancel without reason. Your cancellation rights are set out in the agreement you sign.

Outside any statutory cooling-off period:

• You may cancel before we order equipment or begin work. We will refund your deposit less any costs already committed on your behalf.
• If equipment has been ordered or custom-configured for you, restocking or supplier charges may apply and will be shown to you.
• If you cancel or postpone a booked installation with less than 48 hours notice, a call-out charge may apply.
• We may cancel a job if the site is unsafe, access cannot be arranged, or required approvals are not in place. Where we do, we refund amounts paid for work not performed.

5. Our three-year warranty

We warrant our workmanship for three years from the date of installation. Equipment carries the manufacturer’s warranty, and we administer manufacturer claims on your behalf during that period.

What is covered

• Faults caused by our installation — terminations, mounting, cable runs, configuration
• Return visits to correct a defect in our work, at no charge

What is not covered

• Damage from misuse, tampering, vandalism, theft, accident, rodents, fire, flood, lightning or power surge
• Work performed on the system by anyone other than Pride Security
• Changes you or a third party make to your network, internet service, router or cloud account that stop the system working
• Loss of internet or power, and any consequence of that loss
• Consumables and wear items, including batteries
• Cosmetic marks that do not affect function
• Equipment we did not supply

Warranty service is provided during normal business hours. Emergency or after-hours attendance may be charged at our published rates.

6. What you are responsible for

• Safe, timely access to the property and to the areas where equipment is to be installed
• Working power, and an internet connection where the system needs one
• Any permits, and any approval needed from a landlord, condominium corporation, property manager or franchisor — obtaining these is your responsibility, not ours
• Telling us about concealed services, hazardous materials or structural issues you know about before we drill or cut
• Informing occupants, employees and visitors that recording is taking place, and posting the notice your obligations require — see our Privacy Policy
• Keeping your own system credentials secure, and changing them when someone’s access should end
• Aiming cameras lawfully. We will advise on placement, but you decide what your cameras look at and you are responsible for that decision.

7. Alarm monitoring

Where you have alarm monitoring, it is provided by a ULC-listed central monitoring station. Depending on the arrangement:

• Billed through Pride Security — we invoice you monthly for monitoring and administer the account. The term, monthly fee and notice period for cancellation are set out in your monitoring agreement.
• Contracted directly — you hold the agreement with the monitoring provider. We install and connect the system; the monitoring relationship, billing and service levels are between you and that provider.

Either way, the monitoring station’s own terms apply to the monitoring service. You are responsible for keeping your contact list and passcodes current with whoever holds your monitoring account. Municipalities in Ontario may charge false-alarm fees; those are your responsibility.

8. What a security system can and cannot do

Please read this section carefully.

A security, camera, alarm or access-control system is a deterrent and a tool for recording and notification. It is not a guarantee against burglary, robbery, fire, vandalism, injury or any other loss, and it cannot prevent an event from happening.

Systems can fail or be defeated for reasons outside anyone’s control — power failure, loss of internet or cellular service, equipment failure, environmental interference, deliberate tampering, or delayed response by emergency services. Recordings can be incomplete, obscured or unusable.

We are not an insurer. The price you pay is for the design, equipment and installation of a system, not for assuming the risk of your loss. You should carry property and liability insurance covering the value of what you are protecting, and you should review your coverage with your insurer.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of the supply, installation, service or monitoring of a system is limited to the amount you paid us for the work giving rise to the claim, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, including lost profits, lost business, or loss of or damage to property that a working system might have deterred. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or your rights under Ontario consumer protection law.

9. Use of this website

Content on this website — text, images, layout, logos and branding — belongs to Pride Security Solutions Inc. or is used with permission, and may not be copied or reused without our written consent. Package details, specifications and pricing shown on the site are indicative and may change; the quote we give you for your property is what governs. Brand names and equipment marks belong to their respective owners.

Personal information you submit through this site is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply in it. The courts of Ontario have jurisdiction over any dispute, and nothing here limits any right you have under Ontario consumer protection law.

11. Changes

We may update these terms. The effective date at the top shows when they were last revised. Changes do not affect a signed agreement already in place.
